We seek a versatile and passionate Contributing Writer to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to delve into various aspects of heritage clothing, including but not limited to leather goods, denim, boots, and the rich history that accompanies these items.

As a Contributing Writer, you will work closely with our senior editors and contribute to our extensive catalog of product reviews and our explorative articles. Your work will help our audience understand the value and background of our featured items, from traditional craftsmanship to contemporary styles that honor their heritage roots.

This role offers the flexibility to work from our New York office or remotely, providing a great opportunity to be part of a pioneering team from anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough research and write comprehensive guides and articles across various heritage clothing topics.
  • Example articles:
    • Best Boots for Men
    • Best Leather Briefcases
    • Interview With Sagara, Indonesia’s Best Known Bootmaker
    • The Best Selvedge Denim: 8 Solid Brands for Quality, Value, & Weirdness
• Collaborate with the editorial team to devise test plans, recommend products, and develop content from initial idea to publication.
• Attend industry events and product launches as necessary to gather insights and strengthen expertise in the heritage clothing domain.
• Engage with our audience through various platforms to address feedback, answer questions, and contribute to off-platform content such as newsletters and social media posts.
• Work alongside our operations team to manage product orders and testing logistics, ensuring a seamless review process.

Basic Qualifications:

• A minimum of one year of professional writing experience, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in journalism, product reviews, or related fields.
• A genuine passion for and understanding of heritage clothing, eager to learn and share knowledge about this niche.
• Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an accessible and engaging manner.
• A critical eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate content.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A deep interest in and knowledge of specific areas within heritage clothing, such as leather craftsmanship, denim history, or boot manufacturing.
• Experience with taste testing, ingredient sourcing, or a particular affinity for the cultural aspects of heritage apparel.

Compensation:

Compensation for this role is based on location and experience. We use a sliding scale to ensure fair and competitive compensation for all team members.
