Nick English, the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Stridewise, combines an international background in journalism with a documented decade of obsession with boots, jeans, and casual menswear.
His professional journey includes stints in teaching, aid work, and journalism. After some time at a magazine in Shanghai he moved to New York City and spent a decade writing about health, fitness, and nutrition for places like Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, VICE, and Runner’s World. He even hosted The World’s Strongest Man a couple of times.
So he got good at making smart content and then started Stridewise LLC to make smart content about boots and jeans. The website has a lot of really good reviews, guides, and brand visits. Eventually he hired me, Karl, I manage the website.
There’s also a ton of stuff here about leather jackets and bags and stuff. Nick and I even started a feral swine leather bag business. They’re invasive pests! They need to be wiped out, we’re doing our part.
With Stridewise, Nick has journeyed to boot workshops, sneaker factories, denim mills, and leather tanneries all over the world. The current list of countries where we’ve made awesome content for our YouTube channel includes Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Spain, France, England, Australia, Guatemala, Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
Google likes it when we demonstrate our expertise and tell stroties about ourselves, so we have to be really self aggrandizing on pages like this. As a tropical Australian, Nick had never needed boots before he moved to New York City in his late twenties.

Stridewise started out as a blog about boots. But guys who like nice boots like nice jeans, and they also like nice jackets and bags, and we just kept learning and writing about stuff we’re interested in.
