Mike began working for Red Wing Shoe Company in 2010 as a “shoe dog in training.” He had the great fortune of learning from veteran tanners and shoemakers in Red Wing, Minnesota, where the SB Foot Tanning Company and Red Wing Shoe factory are located.
This vertically integrated operation was the perfect training ground for learning all the dynamics and nuances of the industry, and Mike has studied with the most esteemed shoemakers and last makers with the goal of ensuring that the legacy and best practices of shoemaking remain alive and well in the USA today.
